Secured Emails

Q:  Am I required to use a “secured” email service in order to send and receive patient information by email?

A:  YES – there are several requirements that must be met when using the internet or email for sending and receiving patient health information.  Strict regulations are provided by HIPAA, the California Medical Privacy Act, and California Consumer Protection.
