Q: What is your opinion about using a waste management company who also offer compliance service, i.e. compliance manual, staff training, etc.?
A: We conduct compliance cost analysis for dental offices and find the following to be common with offices that use companies who pick-up their waste items and provide compliance services like employee training,
1. The cost for the waste pick-up service portion was 50% – 78% higher than waste service companies who only offer waste pick-up service.
2. The cost for the compliance service portion was 93% – 264% higher than compliance service companies who only offer compliance service.
3. That the compliance service provided was not current with regulations and very general, meaning is was not site-specific to the Dental Profession and dental offices located in California.
Our compliance cost analysis also disclosed that 99% of the Doctors and Office Mangers who signed-up for these services didn’t understand what they were getting or how much they were paying. In my opinion – for compliance service get an expert, for waste service get an expert, but don’t expect one to be an expert in both. That would be like expecting a Dentist to be an expert in foot disorders, it’s a No-Brainer!
