Q: I am a Registered Dental Assistant and I work at an office where my employer doesn’t want the instruments packaged and all disposable patient products are reused, he tells me “it’s his office and his rules”. Am I jeopardizing my dental license by working there?
A: YES you are jeopardizing your license; you MUST follow the regulations and conditions of your professional license no matter what your employer tells you to do. Assuming you are in California it’s the Dental Board Infection Control Regulations, Section 1005 and the Dental Practice Act I am referring to. If I was you I would look for another employer, if I was a patient I would look for another dentist, if I was the dentist I would get out of dentistry!
