Just because your sterilizer passes a spore test dosen’t mean its running at the level it should be. A spore test does not confirm day-to-day sterilization of instruments nor does it diclose potential faults in the cycle. Therefore it is critical that sterilization of each package of instruments be confirmed as it is removed from the sterilizer by checking the cycle indicators. Also confirm sterilization again just before the instruments are unpackaged and used.
I recommend using a sterilization strip in addition to the package indicators or tape as a back-up confirmation. This is an inexpensive safe guard that provides peace of mind. I also recommend having your sterilizer cleaned and maintenance by a professional service on a regular bases.
