Q: My dental supply representative offers OSHA training at no charge. He tells me that he attended an 8 hours OSHA certification course which allows him to train my staff. Would his training meet OSHA requirements?
A: NO – unless your sales representative also has several years of education in industrial hygiene or safety engineering, along with years of experience as a field inspector. Certification is worthless when not backed up with solid experience and education.
Furthermore, there is liability associated with incorrect or incomplete information regarding compliance and safety; your sales representative should reconsider training people about a subject that he/she has very limited knowledge about. You should reconsider who trains your employee since you are libel as well. An old saying comes to mind, “You get what you paid for”
