Watching expenses and cutting cost makes good sense but not when it adds liability to the business or puts patient & staff safety at risk. I find many dental offices reusing disposable items patient after patient. Also I find the use of home cleaning products in place of hospital grade disinfectants.
Another alarming practice that is growing is the hiring of staff with little or no experience in dentistry and giving them responsibilities of sterilization and patient care without ongoing training and development. The cost of doing business should never be more important than the safety of patients and staff.
