I am asked everyday “What OSHA courses must I take to renew my dental license?”
The answer is “None”
There seems to be a confusion regarding “required courses” so please let me clarify.
The Dental Practice Act course, Dental Board Infection Control Regulations course and BLS CPR course are the three mandatory courses which an RDA, RDH and DDS must take every two years in order to renew their dental license. None of these courses are OSHA courses. Therefore the employer is not responsible for providing employees these courses.
Employers however, must provide all employees Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and Hazard Communication training every year. These are OSHA courses. Keep in mind, OSHA requires yearly training for all employees; dental licensed or not, part-time, full time, front office or back office.
